11.27.03 - 11:56 pm I have done so much waking up lately. Christians should be the most content people on this planet, but unfortunately we fall into the media spiral just like everyone else. We've started believing it when they say that we can't be happy unless we have what they tell us we need. And once we start determining who has the best merchandise, it becomes very easy to compare things that can't be bought per say-- families, mates, character and physical traits. That is such an unhealthy practice for anyone living under God's grace because we've all been given exactly what we need. If we think we need something else, we get the opportunity to ask for it; if we never get the desired response, it's not ours to have. Even though we'll always long for our eternal home, we can live in fullness now. I've believed this for so long, but it wasn't until I sat down and really evaluated my attitude that I saw I wasn't much different than non-Christians. Yes, I had hope for the bleakest of situations, but I didn't have anything close to abounding joy when it concerned my daily life. Over the past week, I found out that it's as simple as remembering. The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful... I will lead them beside streams of water on a level path where they will not stumble... There is hope for your future." Jeremiah 31: 3-4,9,17 In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength. Isaiah 30:15
